Created in 2016, Swing Set is a 4 piece collection (a swing suit, kite backpack, ladder vest, and hammock dress) of garments that can be used to disrupt space with play. Areas socially dedicated to play tend to be fenced in, communicating that playing is something to be contained and not appropriate for day to day living. Swing set presents the idea that play and creative movement can be a way of living freely, utilizing industrial infrastructure to counter expectations of conformity. Practicing play within actions for social change bring to light that historically the joy of marginalized peoples is an act of resistance and resilience.
